G.I. Joe: Wrath of the Cobra- The Video game where logic is optional, and explosions are mandatory. If you’ve ever wondered what it’d be like to take your childhood action figures, throw them into a blender with a gallon of energy drink, and hit “blend,” this is the game for you. Don’t put your action figures into a blender your Mum will go mental I’m speaking from firsthand experience here.
I will start with the plot. If you’re hoping for a gripping tale with layers of intrigue and dramatic depth, you’re in the wrong place. The story is simpler than a Cobra Trooper’s tactical approach to battle: Cobra is up to something nasty (nothing new there, right?), and it’s up to the G.I Joes to save the day. How? By running, gunning, and blowing up everything in sight. Sure, there are some cutscenes in there that try to sound serious, but they mostly serve to remind you that this game is about as deep as a kiddie pool filled with explosives.
Now for some gameplay talk: Wrath of the Cobra is a delightful chaos simulator. You’ll find yourself swinging between characters, from Snake Eyes (Who everyone wants to be) to Duke (Who everyone wants to be as well), taking on an endless waves of Cobra minions, vehicles and at one point, something that could only be described as a “Giant Mech…. thing.” The control system? Imagine trying to drive a tank while riding a roller coaster. Fighting? It’s like the developers took the “punch everything until it explodes” approach, which is what we want in a game like this. The action is fast, frantic and occasional feels like it was designed by someone who thought, “What if we could a Michael Bay movie into a game?”
Each character has their own abilities, which you’ll rapidly forget about because the strategy here is: destroy everything that moves, then destroy it again. But hey, that’s what G.I Joe is all about giving Cobra a damn good thrashing.
And the graphics? They are a delightful throwback to a time when polygonal explosions and blocky characters were a feature, not a bug. The environment is colourful and chaotic, much like your childhood imagination.

The soundtrack deserves a mention too-it’s the kind of action-movie score that makes you want to put on sunglasses light a cigar shout “YO JOE in your best Schwarzenegger impression!”
In conclusion I had a blast (not literally) although this game will not win awards for storytelling, it is a great throwback to an era where games were made with a sole purpose to have fun either on your own or with friends and this game does not disappoint. The price point for this game is more than fair and I have certainly got my money’s worth and very much would like to see a sequel.
I’m no longer scoring games with a rating out of 10 I will simply be saying do I think the game is worth buying full price or wait for a sale or not to bother at all.
This game for me is a purchase at full price.
But I would say this is just my opinion please do check out streams of this game.
