In the unpredictable world of game development, we are seeing layoffs from studios due to once popular franchises no longer bringing in the cash needed to stay afloat Dragon Age the Veilguard being one example of that and the under performance of EA’s FC25 not performing as well as they would have hoped and the unfortunate issues Mindseye is having on launch which to be honest I didn’t know the game existed until a week ago when it was reported that two executives had left the company so close to launch.

But let’s not dwell on the negatives lets focus on the positives in the industry and one of those positives is The Game Kitchen! They are responsible for the masterpieces that Blasphemous 1 & 2 and the excellent real-time tactical stealth game The Stone of Madness.

When I buy games, I like to know about the developer what the goal is and something that really caught my eye with The Game Kitchen is on the about us section on the website you are greeted with “The Recipe For Awesome Games” They state they will only work on projects that are meaningful to them and that every single member of the team must be passionate about the game! And that is something that is on show in abundance in the games they have created.

For me The Game Kitchen are one of the most important developers out there in gaming especially if they keep true to that claim in The Recipe for Awesome Games which there is no evidence to suggest that they will not be staying true to that.

They have an art style that you know is them, Blasphemous 1 & 2 and The Stone of Madness are simply just works of art the stories are superb as well but just as importantly the game play is on their games is fantastic.

I bought recently the Blasphemous 2 collector’s edition box set on the Nintendo Switch and the care that went into the presentation is just well let’s just say high class.

If you are an Indie Developer and you want to really have ago at making it in the industry you cant go wrong aspiring to be like The Game Kitchen as for me they are one of the most important developers in the industry with the quality they are releasing.
